I am among the most popular academic advisors at both University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Iowa State University (ISU), and I have advised students across numerous areas in computing, ranging: collaboration technologies, multimedia computing, net-centric computing, optimal aging, services computing, situation analytics, smart technologies and, of course, software engineering.

Since I began my academic career UIC in 1984, I have produced 40 Ph.D. dissertations, 33 M.S. theses, and more than 150+ M.S. projects. I always enjoy working with my students and treasure the time I spent with them, inside or outside academic pursuit. I also enjoyed the international cuisine that my students brought together in my place for the fun times. My students and postdocs came from the following countries or regions: Brazil, China, India, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam, West Bank, and others.
